3D-Printed Assistive Devices
RHPL is pleased to offer free 3D-printed assistive devices. These items can be used to help with mobility, strength, reading, and more.
Patrons can request one item a month. If you'd like to try out any device before you request it, you can try them out in the Outreach Department or in the Makerspace.

1) Fork and spoon support - An aid for using eating utensils. It is a single piece that fits the shape of the hand. Forks and spoons with flat bases slide into the two slots on the inside of the palm.
2) Light Switch Extension Lever - Extends the light switch arm, making it easier for those with arthritis, limited grip strength, or finger dexterity to flip lights on or off.
3) Key turner - For people with arthritis or other disabilities to help grasp their keys better. The key turner fits most standard keys. It has two holes to hang from a key chain.
4) Button Helper - A dressing aid that is great for hard-to-grasp buttons.
5) Bottle Opener - A handheld tool that helps people with arthritis, limited finger dexterity, or other disabilities open standard water bottle caps with just a small squeeze.
6) Drinking Straw Holder - Developed to help make sure the straw in a drinking glass stays in place. The straw holder is made to fit regular sized straws, and is easily mounted on a drinking glass.
7) Signature Guide - This Signature Guide assists users with writing their signature and initials on a line.
8) Thumb Book Holder - Use your thumb to hold book pages open as you read.
9) Vertical Finger Pen Holder - A small accessory that slides onto a finger to help hold a writing utensil. It is useful for those with gripping issues, but who still have movement in their wrist or hand. This device can be used on the index, middle, ring, or pinky fingers.
10) Shopping Bag Handle - A simple gadget to help carry multiple shopping bags at once.
11) Pill Ejector - Helps open pill blister packs of almost any size of pill. The small container underneath will catch the pill before it drops.
12) Eye Drop Squeezer - Assists in application for people with grip strength difficulties
13) Smartphone Magnification Stand - Holds your smartphone steady above the page so you can use your smartphone as a magnifier to see details more clearly.
14) Seatbelt Release Aid - Helps to reach and press the release button on car seatbelts.
15) Can and Bottle Opener Keychain - A tool to help open tab cans and bottles and cartons with twist off lids.
