Once your application is processed, we will send you additional information including your first issue of a bi-monthly subscription to the most recent catalogs for ordering books: Digital Talking Books Plus and/or Braille Book Review. To ensure you are receiving service according to your preferences, you may expect a call from a Librarian once the application is received. Eligibility of blind and other print-disabled persons for loan of library materials

The following people are eligible for service: residents of the United States, including territories, insular possessions, and the District of Columbia, and American citizens living abroad, provided they meet one of the following criteria:

1. An individual who is blind or has a visual impairment that makes them unable to comfortably read print books.

2. An individual who has a perceptual or reading disability.

3. An individual who has a physical disability that makes it hard to hold or manipulate a book or to focus or move the eyes as needed to read a print book.

Please check the primary disability under which you qualify: Blind - Visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye with correcting glasses or the widest diameter of visual field subtending an angular distance no greater than 20 degrees. Deaf-Blind - Severe auditory impairment in combination with legal blindness. Visual Disability - Lacks visual acuity to read standard printed materials without special aids or devices other than regular glasses. Physical Disability - Unable to read or use standard printed materials as a result of physical limitations. Examples include: without arms or use of arms; impaired or weakened muscle and nerve control; limitations resulting from strokes, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, polio, arthritis.
